Identifying Yellow Dye Markers

Highly specific "Gold" markers in 14 yellow dye plants enable the precise botanical authentication of ancient textiles.

Identifying the botanical origins of yellow dyes in ancient textiles is a notorious challenge due to the chemical overlap of common pigments across different plant species. This study introduces a robust metabolomics workflow designed to move beyond ubiquitous molecules like quercetin to find species-specific “Gold” chemical markers using SIRIUS.

The easy way to comprehensive structure elucidation

SIRIUS is the comprehensive software solution for the high-throughput identification of small molecules from fragmentation mass spectrometry data. SIRIUS provides a comprehensive set of features spanning every step from feature detection to detailed result validation. It is designed to not only accurately characterize known compounds but also to confidently identify “unknown unknowns” in complex biological samples.
